Configuring geographic zones for Boxtal connect Prestashop
Prestashop geographic zones allow you to configure which delivery methods are available for which geographical area.
Configuring new zones
You can find the geographic zones configuration in your Prestashop backoffice, International > Locations.
You can manage the zones that you will find in the configuration of carriers in the Zones tab, then associate countries or states with these zones via the other tabs.
Configuring zones by postal codes
The configuration of zones by postal codes (for example for Corsica) can be tricky in Prestashop.
By using an add-on
The simplest (but the most expensive) is to install a paid module, for example:
- Module Frais de port par codes postaux
- Module Frais d'expédition par code postal, Zone, Pays, État
- Module Zones de livraisons et codes postaux
- Prestashop Zipcode Wise Shipping
We have not developed these solutions and therefore cannot recommend any one in particular.
By splitting countries
The disadvantage of this solution is that you will not be able to use a parcel point shipping method for the country that will no longer have the correct ISO code. You may also experience issues with other modules that will not work with your orders if the destination country ISO code is incorrect.
For example, you can create two zones: "France - Corsica" and "France - Outside Corsica".
Then add a new country "France Corsica" by choosing "20NNN" as the postal code format so as to only validate postal codes belonging to Corsica.
You then just have to link your "France - Corsica" zone to the "France Corsica" country and your "France - Outside Corsica" zone to the existing France country, and configure your carriers according to these two zones.
