Configuring customer groups for Boxtal connect Prestashop

Prestashop customer groups allow you to segment your customers or potential buyers in order to adapt the behavior of your site to certain populations. For example :

  • Display prices excluding taxes rather than including taxes.
  • Offer a certain category of product.
  • Assign a discount.
  • Display a certain carrier.
  • Activate a module;
  • ...

You can create groups in your Prestashop backoffice on the Shop parameters > Customers settings page in the Groups tab.

When creating a new group, you can specify whether this group should see prices excluding or including taxes, apply a percentage discount or decide not to display prices.

Once the group has been created, if you edit it, this time you have access to more options:

  • Enable/disable modules specifically for this group.
  • Add a discount on a category.

You can also enable or disable access to certain products or product categories to this group by editing them in your catalog.

By editing a carrier from the Shipping > Carriers page, you can also reserve it for certain groups of customers.

To add a customer to a group, edit their Group access (and their Default customer group if the customer belongs to more than one group) in the customer's edit page accessible via Customers > Customers.
