Understanding the SAD
The SAD, or Single Administrative Document, is a standardized form used for customs declarations. It is used to declare goods imported, exported, or in transit within the EU and certain partner countries.
This declaration is mandatory for all customs operations outside the EU, as well as for certain specific intra-EU operations (e.g., products subject to excise duties or special controls).
For shipments made via Boxtal, the carrier selected, as customs broker, completes the declaration.
Retrieve proof of export
The SAD can be used as proof of export.
For parcels sent from June 6, 2025
You can retrieve the DAU on the customs website, by logging in with your professional credentials (EORI numbers, ProDouane account, etc.) and accessing the declarations section.
For these shipments, Boxtal and carriers do not have access to these documents.
If you have any problems downloading your documents, you can contact Infos Douane Service, whose telephone number is listed on the same website.
For parcels sent before June 6, 2025
Contact us specifying your shipment reference. Our customer service will send you your document as soon as possible.
Legal Retention Obligation
Companies are required to retain their SADs for a legal period, generally 3 to 10 years depending on the country and national tax regulations.
This retention period allows them to justify commercial transactions in the event of a tax or customs audit, and also facilitates accounting and administrative management. Finally, it helps prevent disputes in the event of customs or commercial litigation.
