What are additional invoices?

Additional invoices are the result of the billing of an additional cost or an added option for a shipment by a carrier.

Several events can lead to additional invoices.

  • Audited discrepancies in weight and/or volume. The carrier has audited a discrepancy in weight or volume compared to your original declaration.
  • Returns and modifications. All address changes or returns of goods result in additional costs.
  • Packaging. The carrier has found that your package was not machineable (presence of handles or package of non-standard shape), or you used a shipping label that was not the one provided by Boxtal, which may lead to errors or additional management costs.
  • Customs. Your shipments abroad are subject to taxes. In most cases, these taxes are to be paid by the recipient, but the carrier is allowed to request the shipper for payment.
