Understanding our AXA insurance
Our AXA insurance is an ad valorem insurance: it allows you to receive, upon presentation of an invoice, compensation up to the declared value of your goods in case of damage or loss.
Although carriers are fully responsible for the goods being delivered, the carriers can prove that the damage was linked to a force majeure case (unforeseeable circumstances) or that the wrapping was insufficient.
Therefore if you don't subscribe to insurance, there will a number of cases where no compensation will be provided by carriers.
Moreover, if the carrier is indeed responsible for the damage, the compensation provided will not be estimated from the value of the transported goods, and is limited by international conventions.
The Acme company ships a 2kg parcel from Paris to Rouen with Mondial Relay. The retail value of the goods is 300€.
Without the AXA insurance, Acme will be compensated 25€ by the carrier.
With the AXA insurance, Acme will be compensated of 100% of the value of the declared goods - 300€.
By subscribing to the AXA insurance, Acme has therefore multiplied its compensation conditions by 12.
